Nigerian Athlete fails Dope Test.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, early today at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State, disclosed that a Nigerian athlete, Patience Okoro, has tested positive to a banned substance.

Spokesperson of AFN, Duro Ikhazuagbe, said Okoro was caught at the weekend during the final leg of the AFN Golden League held in Warri, Delta State.
As at the time of filing this report, the AFN was yet to issue a statement on the punishment to be given to the culprit, but P.M.Sports gathered that the result of the test conducted on her was positive.
Meanwhile, curtain falls on the 66th Mobil Track & Field Championships in Calabar, Cross River State this evening with the finals of the relay events in 4x100m (Women), 4x100m (Men), 4x400m (Women) and 4x400m (Men).
Finals of events like the half marathon, pole vault, discuss, long jump, high jump, hurdles, 200m. 400m, 800m and 3,000m steeple chase will also be held today.
Organisers of the tournament, which will be used to select Nigerian athletes to the London 2012 Olympic Games, AFN, and the Cross River States Government, have promised a hitch-free closing ceremony, which will be attended by Governor Lyel Imoke and members of the state’s Executive Council as well as top officials.
