Rennes ace to snub Gunners

Rennes midfielder Tongo Doumbia is set to turn his back on a move to Arsenal in favour of joining West Brom.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been tracking the Mali international as he looks to bolster his midfield but the 22-year-old is closing in on a move to the Baggies.

Despite interest from Arsenal, Doumbia believes he will be able to play more first-team football with Albion and a switch to the Hawthorns will be better for his career.

Doumbia is now set to hold further talks with West Brom and a deal looks to be imminent.

“I felt more desire there [at West Brom],” Doumbia said. “Obviously, it is less glamorous than Arsenal but I’ll be able to continue my progress. I will have more chances to play. ”

This [the Premier League] is a championship that thrills everybody.

I hope this is the beginning of a great adventure.”
Doumbia is a team-mate of Yann M’vila and it looks as though neither player will be arriving at the club as Wenger is reported to have dropped all interest in the French international.
