For the second time, President Goodluck Jonathan met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal over threat by the House to impeach the president for non-implementation of the 2012 budget, Daily Trust heard in Abuja yesterday.
On Saturday, Jonathan invited Tambuwal for “peace talks” to iron out their differences as regard non-implementation of the 2012 Appropriation Act.

They were scheduled to meet last night at the Presidential Villa for the talks which makes it twice in less than one week.

The House had on Thursday gave Jonathan up to September to implement the budget to 100 percent or he would be impeached.

A ranking lawmaker who does not want to be mentioned because he was not authorised to speak on the matter said, Tambuwal has received another invitation from the President for “a dinner” with him by 9pm last night.

Meanwhile, the House yesterday insisted that its resolution threatening to oust the president by September if he fails to implement the budget stands.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, House spokesman Zakari Mohammed said the trend of non-budget implementation by the government would be addressed.
