Arsenal: Song agrees Barcelona switch

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is reportedly closing in on a move to Barcelona after agreeing personal terms with the Spanish giants.
The Gunners have spent most of the summer trying to persuade Robin van Persie to stay at the club but are now facing another battle to keep hold of Song as negotiations with Barcelona continue.

Arsene Wenger is desperate not to lose the Cameroon midfielder after an outstanding campaign at the Emirates Stadium last season in which he was vital to the Gunners.

However, the Frenchman looks to be fighting a losing battle with various sources in the Spanish media claiming the 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract worth £75,000-per-week.

When asked about a move for Song, Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova told Marca: “I’d rather not talk about players not on our team, because it is disrespectful.”

Should Song leave north London then Wenger is likely to renew his interest in Real Madrid’s Nuri Shain, who has been made available by Jose Mourniho.

The Turkish midfielder has been on Wenger’s radar since the start of the summer but the Gunners boss has been waiting to see what was going to happen with Song before making a move.

Should Song complete his move to Barcelona then Wenger will look to bring Sahin in on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.
