Glo/LMC deal: A celebration of Tokenness”- Says CLUB OWNERS.

Posted: May 7, 2013 in Sports

Against the backdrop of yesterdays signing of a 3yrs title sponsorship deal for the NPFL by the League management company, the association of the 20 premier league club chairmen otherwise known as club owners said they were not aware of any such deal as it was brokered without their knowledge and approval.

The club owners have also threatened to disassociate itself from any further deal entered into by the LMC until the current issues being handled by the NFF is settled.

However, the association has warned that unless the issues are settled no club should allow any bill board or pitch panel bearing LMC Ltd or any of its sponsors at league venues forthwith.

Speaking in an interview monitored in Ilorin, Acting Secretary of the club owners Alloy chukwuemeka said the issue of league management company Ltd is still a matter of debate which the NFF is trying to make peace over it and as such they have no such right to sign any deal or receive any cheque unbehalf of the league clubs without their knowledge and supports.

He said the club owners are still waiting for the inconclusive meeting to be reconvened and salient issues thrashed before any deal could be entered into.

He added that the rush by LMC in accepting a cheque is a mere celebration of tokenness adding similar deals in the past between the league and Globacom had brought more money than what they are celebrating.

He noted that all he can say for now is that since they had the inconclusive meeting last time they are yet to meet so he’s not sure any meeting where such deal was discussed before it was sealed and paid for.

So we are still waiting for NFF to reconvene the meeting. ” My friend all I know is that the clubs are not aware of any deal sealed in Lagos but even at that the amount you are mentioning we are used to it or are they celebrating tokenness”…Alloy said”
