Explosions and Sporadic gun shots rock Maiduguri again

Posted: May 12, 2013 in Security

Coming about three weeks after a gun duel between security forces and some gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members, the troubled capital of Borno State, Maiduguri, on Sunday, came under heavy bombardment, once again , as explosions and sporadic gun shots were heard in different parts of the town.
Many residents of the affected areas, especially the GRA, were left with no option than to run for cover so as not to be caught up in the crossfire as the explosions became even deafening..
Though details of the incident were still sketchy when filing this report, the explosions were said to have been preceded by a series of heavy gunfire which erupted immediately after a 20-minute downpour .

The spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State, Operation Restore Hope, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, could not confirm the development as he did not pick the several calls  made to his mobile telephone.
