Armed Robbers raid three banks in Kwara.

Armed robbers in their numbers around fifteen past six (6:15pm) on Tuesday evening raided three commercial banks in Omu Aran,the headquarters of Irepodun Local government area of Kwara State.

The robbers were reported to have used explosives to blow off the security doors of the banks.

They are earlier reported to have attacked the police station that was close to one of the commercial banks and shot sporadically at the men and officers of the Nigeria Police on duty,the police vehicle was also reportedly burnt by the armed gang.

A member of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) who tried to repel the attack according to an eye witness was reportedly shot dead by the gang numbering about fifteen with four cars.

The eye witness account also confirmed two staff of one of the commercial banks dead.

The eye witness account informed that a family member of the OPC man who was shot dead by the robbers approached the Police station and demanded to see the corpse of the deceased was reportedly shot on one of his legs by the Police.

The development led to Hundreds of youth from the town protesting the police action and laid siege on the police station in Omu-Aran.

The youth accused the police of taking no action to stop the robbers.

It would be recalled that banks in the town reopened recently after weeks of closure due to the same development which the Nigerian Police in the area has no answer to on till this evening attack.

A new commissioner for Kwara State command of the Nigerian Police only assumed office last week,he’s Mr Agboola Oshodi Glover.
